Dried Farewell Flowers

When I first started this flower journey in 2020, my obsession was always plants, and I then got into the craze of dried flowers and just knew I had to do something with flowers. I always loved receiving flowers as gifts, as I love how something small can put such a smile on someone's face. What I didn't know, and to some degree still don't, is what direction I would like to go with flowers going forward. And what certainly didn't cross my mind back then, was to be doing farewell flowers for funerals.

A couple of months ago, I was approached by a close friend who's grandmother had sadly passed away and completely out of nowhere the family asked if I would be willing to do their sympathy flowers. I felt really honored to even be asked, never mind trusted with something so important, meaningful and special.

We discussed what flowers they liked; colours and their personality and went with a colourful dried palette to create a 90cm casket spray. I wasn't going to let the nerves get the better of me, making sure I took my time and as soon as I started I really enjoyed it. Seeing it come together, and knowing that it was going to be a parting gift for someone's loved one gave me that sense of pride. The family were really pleased with the result, as was I. Coming soon on another blog post – splitting this into two to divide between the daughter/granddaughter...
